Food is an experience. It doesn't just matter how great something tastes or looks. Your entire experience of a place, from when you walk into the front door a bakery to when you're greeted by a family of friendly owners to when you're served your food, can dictate how well you "taste" that experience. Baker's Dozen isn't just about awesome, fresh donuts / sandwiches. The owners here make you feel at home and a part of their family. With the onslaught of places like Starbucks and other fast food chains, you can loose that sense of personal connection. Sure, the barista behind Starbucks might have been trained in a "Disney" kind of way to be friendly and positive. But it's not the same as the genuine feeling of being a part of a family run establishment. Mom and pop donut shops rock, especially this one run by The Lums! :)
